This past September, Molly Carr Photography and I traveled to Oia for Nicole and Chris’ elopement in Santorini, which was recently featured on Martha Stewart Weddings! Before they walked down the Greek Isle (pun intended, ha!) they kicked off their festivities with an intimate sunrise photo shoot! It was such a special moment that I was lucky enough to share with the happy couple. Read more about their story below and check out the feature on Magnolia Rouge!

Nicole and Chris chose to have their story book elopement on the beautiful Grecian Isle of Santorini. Nicole’s dress was chosen specifically to match the morning’s portrait session but also for the evening’s. Airy dove grey fabric danced in the wind and captured the light beautifully. Although we encouraged her to go barefoot, she actually chose to wear her amazing pair of silver Ferragamo platform heels!! We also had the bride carry an organic olive branch bouquet with soft silk ribbons to juxtapose against the rugged branches.

For their pre-wedding sunrise portraits, their morning began atop the royal blue topped white architecture of Oia. The hazy sunlight that surrounded the island created a dream like quality. They walked hand in hand amongst olive trees, bold pink bougainvillea, stone pathways and winding staircases.

For their pre-wedding sunset portraits, Nicole & Chris wanted a landscape that was very natural and desert like and outside of the box from their morning escapades. They decided to go off the beaten path and head over to Katharos Beach in Oia, a quiet beach situated between volcanic rocks and cliffs. On the day, once they hiked down to the pathway to access the beach there were only a hand full of beach goers making for an especially, intimate moment.

Katharos Beach has incredible sunset vibes complete with ships passing in the almost night! The water glistens off its black sand and slate colored volcanic pebbles. We could hear the gentle tide going in and out, making a tranquil sound as it danced upon the rocks. It was the perfect serene atmosphere!

The evening was spent with the couple lovingly and peacefully looking out onto the Aegean Sea. It truly was like a dream… The perfect bookend to a most beautiful day!
